Starting in October 2017 Solidar Suisse, in partnership with AWO International, has been providing emergency relief for refugee Rohingya in Bangladesh. Traumatised girls and women are given psychological help.
Since August 2017 more than 688,000 members of the Rohingya moslem minority have fled from Myanmar to Bangladesh. Most of them are now in makeshift camps in the southern Cox’s Bazar district. The on site situation is fragile. Clean water, toilets, medical assistance, electricity and food are in short supply.
EMERGENCY SHELTERS, BASIC GOODS, DRINKING WATER AND TOILETS
Solidar Suisse helps refugees in partnership with AWO International, a German charitable organisation. Since October 2017 building materials for emergency shelters, basic goods, such as hygiene kits, and cooking utensils have been given to approximately 2800 refugees. Drilling for wells and the construction of toilets ensure safe access to drinking water and adequate sanitation services.
